Monrovia – Lenise Home Care & Support Services has won a US$2,000 grant from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry after delivering a standout pitch at the 2024 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Trade Fair in Monrovia. The company’s impressive performance earned it second place in its category.
The trade fair, which brought together 200 businesses grouped into various categories, provided a platform for MSMEs to exhibit their services and innovations. Lenise Home Care & Support Services finished second in its category, earning not only the grant but also significant attention for its impact-driven mission.
“We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Liberian government, particularly the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, for organizing this transformative event and supporting MSMEs across the country,” said Mrs. Danise Love Dennis-Dodoo, CEO of Lenise Home Care & Support Services.
She also extended appreciation to her staff whom she said had shown commitment to the goals and ideals of the company. “I also want to thank my husband for his continous investments after giving me this establishment as a birthday gift in 2023. I can’t thank my staff enough. They are just so incredible,” she said.
Mrs. Dodoo stated that the grant will be used to improve mobility, which she believes will enhance supervision, service delivery, and client satisfaction. “We are going to use this money to improve our mobility. With more supervision, our clients’ satisfaction will increase. In our field of work, we don’t just want to empower and provide jobs, we also want to ensure those who hire our services are satisfied and recommending us to others. This is how we grow,” she said.
The company, which officially launched on August 17, 2023, has achieved impressive milestones in under a year. It currently employs 67 individuals, the majority of whom are women. Mrs. Dodoo emphasized the significance of their employment impact. “As a small-scale business, having 67 people on your payroll is no child’s play. In Liberia, employing an individual means you’re providing basic needs for at least five people,” she explained.
Lenise Home Care was founded with a vision to tackle challenges faced by professional women balancing work and home responsibilities. Mrs. Dodoo stated that the business is a solution-oriented venture aimed at empowering women while providing reliable home care services for professional women. “We place a premium on training our staff to provide quality and professional services. We’ve received numerous testimonials from clients expressing satisfaction in what we do,” she noted.
A Catalyst for MSME Growth
The MSMEs Trade Fair underscored the Liberian government’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and small business growth. Addressing participants at the event, Acting Minister of Commerce and Industry, Hon. Scholastica Tenneh Nyenkan-Nimely, emphasized the critical role MSMEs play in reducing poverty and driving the economy.
“MSMEs are the backbone of our economy, providing essential jobs, contributing to the local economy, and fostering the entrepreneurial spirit that will drive Liberia’s future,” she said.
Hon. Nyenkan-Nimely stressed the need for practical support, including access to capital, training, and technology, to enable MSMEs to thrive. She also highlighted the importance of fostering a culture of entrepreneurship among Liberian youth to diversify the economy and reduce dependency on imports.
