MONROVIA — Belgian coach Alain-André Landeut has resigned from LISCR FC just two months after taking charge, citing personal reasons, the Liberian club announced Sunday.
Landeut, who joined the club in August ahead of the 2025–26 season, submitted his resignation over the weekend. While LISCR thanked him for his service and wished him well, sources close to the team said the departure stemmed from deeper issues.
According to the sources, Landeut never received his sign-on fee and was owed two months’ salary. They also said club officials demanded he win the domestic league in his first season — a target the coach reportedly viewed as unrealistic after assessing the squad and reviewing past league performances.
The sources added that Landeut was frustrated by interference from club executives and questioned the team’s ability to compete at the top level. During his brief tenure, Landeut led LISCR to the West African Champions Cup in Guinea, where the team failed to advance, finishing with two losses and a draw.
The club conceded four goals and failed to score in the tournament. Multiple attempts to reach the club president Swen Bedell for comment were unsuccessful. Bedell declined phone calls, and did not answer to messages sent via WhatsApp. LISCR has since appointed former Liberian international Varmah Kpoto as head coach. Kpoto, a CAF License A holder, will be assisted by Mohammed Sheriff as the club begins restructuring its technical staff.
