Kids Reading for All Foundation seeks support to cultivate literacy in rural Liberia

SUEHN MECCA DISTRICT, Bomi County – The Executive Director of the Kids Reading for All Foundation, Mr. E Reagan GT Barcon II is appealing for support from the Liberian Ministry of Agriculture and other prominent Liberians to bolster its mission of providing academic resources to underprivileged children in rural communities.  The Foundation, which aims to promote literacy in underserved areas, recently received a significant boost with a donation of 50 acres of farmland from the Maizen Town authorities in Suehn Mecca District, Bomi County.

The Foundation plans to cultivate a variety of fast-growing crops, including watermelon, pepper, corn, cucumber, and cassava on the land. The proceeds generated from the harvest will be directly invested in providing educational resources such as books, learning materials, and educational programs for underprivileged children.  This initiative is expected to significantly impact literacy rates and improve educational outcomes in the rural community.

“This farmland donation represents a remarkable opportunity for us to not only nourish our community but also cultivate a love for learning among the children.”stated the Executive Director. He expressed the hope that the fruits of their labour will bring about a ripple effect in the community, inspiring a generation of readers.

The Foundation is calling on every Liberian to join in this vital endeavor. The Ministry of Agriculture, other government agencies, private businesses, and individuals are all encouraged to contribute to the initiative to provide resources and support. They are seeking donations of seeds, fertilizer, and tools, and also volunteers to assist with cultivation and other tasks.

This initiative underscores a crucial need in Liberia, where access to quality education, especially in rural areas, remains a challenge. With the support of the community and the nation as a whole, the Kids Reading for All Foundation hopes to create an impactful and lasting legacy in rural communities.
