SACLEPEA, Nimba -– Julius Suah, a Referee on duty with the ongoing Nimba County Electoral District Tournament has been arrested and jailed by the Police Detachment of Nimba County for allegedly stealing 50 gallons of fuel from a truck that was parked in Saclepea, the venue of the ongoing electoral tournament.
Suah was traced in connection to the theft when his mobile phone was found on the scene of the crime by the truck driver, James Goffa and delivered to the Saclepea Police Depot.
The LNP depot in Saclepea, upon receiving the phone and complaint, launched an investigation to discover the person connected to the theft and how the phone was found on the scene of the crime. The discovery from the investigation contains that the phone belongs to Referee Suah.
He was subsequently traced and arrested in a local guesthouse in Saclepea by the Police and taken to the local police depot for investigation.
According to the Police report, Suah admitted to committing the act and said the 50 gallons of fuel was sold to a local petroleum dealer in Saclepea.
Liberia Kickball Federation (LKF) said Referee Suah was not on official duty at the time he committed the alleged act, noting that his action was “personal” and self-seeking, thus it has no connection or link with the organization.
