MONROVIA — The Civil Service Agency will begin a weeklong personnel verification and credential audit of the Judiciary on Thursday, in what Chief Justice Yamie Quiqui Gbeisay Sr. says is part of efforts to rebrand and professionalize the branch of government.
The exercise, which runs Aug. 28 through Sept. 4, will cover staff of the 1st and 6th Judicial Circuits in Montserrado County. According to the Judiciary, three CSA teams will work simultaneously, starting with the Temple of Justice, followed by the Paynesville Magisterial Court, and then the Gardnersville Magisterial Court.
The verification will extend to judges, magistrates, the Court Administrator, directors, and employees within the Temple of Justice, as well as staff at the West Point, Paynesville, Omega, Careysburg, Bensonville, Todee, Gardnersville, Bushrod Island, Brewerville, and Arthington courts.
In a statement, the Judiciary said the move fulfills Chief Justice Gbeisay’s pledge, made upon his Aug. 15 induction, to ensure staff qualifications align with assigned duties. “We will conduct what I call ‘credential audits’ to ensure that all staff of the Judiciary have the required academic qualification and experience to effectively perform their assigned duties,” Gbeisay said earlier.
Employees appearing before the CSA teams must present original copies of academic credentials along with a national identification card. The Judiciary warned that failure to comply will bring “severe administrative consequences.”
Chief Justice Gbeisay extended thanks to the CSA for its support and said the audit marks an early step in continuing the reform and rebranding program started by his predecessor.
