PAYNESVILLE — The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has concluded a two-day workshop validating its Five-Year Strategic Plan, a blueprint set to guide Liberia’s gender and social protection priorities through 2030.
The workshop, held at the Golden Key Hotel in Paynesville, brought together representatives from government institutions, civil society, and international partners to review and finalize the plan.
Gender Minister Gbeme Horace-Kollie described the validation as a milestone toward strengthening Liberia’s gender equality and social development systems.
“The document embodies our collective resolve to enhance institutional efficiency, promote accountability, and ensure that every intervention delivers measurable impact,” Horace-Kollie said.
She emphasized that the plan was developed through a consultative, evidence-based process involving ministry staff, stakeholders, and development partners. The strategy, she said, aims to improve the lives of women, children, persons with disabilities, the elderly, and other vulnerable groups nationwide.
Horace-Kollie expressed gratitude to Enterprise Impacts Growth (EIG) for its technical support and to the World Bank, through the Liberia Women Empowerment Project (LWEP), for its financial assistance.
The minister noted that the plan aligns with the government’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development, which prioritizes Accelerated Recovery, Reform, Empowerment, Security, and Transparency.
“As the Minister of Gender, I am proud that under our leadership, the ministry is finalizing a Five-Year Strategic Plan,” she said. “This milestone demonstrates the government’s commitment to planning and accountability.”
Horace-Kollie urged participants to provide practical feedback to ensure the final version reflects Liberia’s national priorities and the needs of underserved communities.
She added that the plan’s implementation will have a nationwide impact, “from a girl in Bong County to a young woman in Grand Bassa, the real faces and futures our work seeks to transform.”
The five-year strategic plan, developed over several months of nationwide consultations, is both inclusive and evidence-driven, according to the ministry. It is designed to align with national development goals and ensure coordinated, measurable progress in advancing gender equality and social protection across Liberia.
