MONROVIA, Liberia — FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee has ruled in favor of Liberian midfielder Jegbay Morris Konneh in a contract dispute with South African Premiership club TS Galaxy, according to KickOff.com.
Konneh, who was unveiled alongside fellow Liberian Emmanuel Sieh by TS Galaxy on July 17, 2024, alleged the club failed to fulfill the terms of his three-year contract, which took effect July 1. Despite participating in preseason matches, Konneh never made a competitive appearance during his six-month stint with the club.
The 25-year-old midfielder lodged a formal complaint with FIFA, citing ill-treatment and unpaid wages. His representatives claimed he received no salary during his time at the club.
After reviewing all submissions by May 2025, FIFA issued a partial ruling in Konneh’s favor, ordering TS Galaxy to pay compensation reportedly in the six-figure U.S. dollar range.
In response, TS Galaxy has requested the full written grounds of the decision from FIFA and is expected to consider an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). However, such legal proceedings are typically costly and time-consuming.
Failure to comply with FIFA’s ruling within the stipulated timeframe could expose TS Galaxy to further sanctions, including an additional transfer ban.
The club is already under two separate three-window transfer bans issued in December 2024 in unrelated cases. Another disciplinary matter involving the club remains pending.
This is not TS Galaxy’s first sanction from international football authorities. In an earlier case, the club was ordered by CAS to pay approximately $98,000 to Ivorian striker Bernard Yao Kouassi. That transfer ban was only lifted in June 2024 after the payment was made.
Konneh, who played for LISCR FC in Liberia before his move to South Africa, has yet to comment publicly on the ruling. His legal team, however, has welcomed the decision as a step toward holding clubs accountable for the treatment of foreign players.
