Electric Fencing Training Kicks Off in Liberia to Boost Local Security Solutions

MONROVIA – South African electric fencing company Nemtek, in partnership with Liberia’s P&D Electric Company, has kicked off a two-day training program to equip 57 young Liberians with electric fencing installation skills, aimed at enhancing local security and boosting economic growth. The training began Tuesday at the RLJ Kendeja Resort on the Roberts International Airport Highway.

This initiative marks Nemtek’s first formal training session in Liberia after two years of negotiations. François Enslin, Export Sales Manager at Nemtek, expressed his enthusiasm about the training, stating, “This is to empower them and give them the abilities to set up their own businesses, which will help grow their economy at a local level.”

The training is divided into two parts: a theoretical session focusing on the basics of electric fencing and a practical hands-on experience where participants will learn how to install the fences. Safiatu Fahnbulleh, one of the trainees and a school founder, highlighted the significance of the training, noting, “As a woman in the technical field, it’s important to grab opportunities like these. It prepares you for future jobs, and I’m very excited about this.”

Nemtek’s electric fencing system, which consists of wire, brackets, and an energizer, provides a secure perimeter to deter intruders. Enslin explained, “The energizers are regulated to a voltage that is non-lethal. You will feel a shock, but it won’t cause any harm to the body. It’s designed to delay and deter intrusions.”

With a growing focus on securing homes, businesses, and farms across Liberia, the collaboration between Nemtek and P&D Electric Company aims to provide affordable and effective security solutions. Enslin assured potential customers that the fences would be accessible to everyday Liberians, stating, “It’s going to be very affordable. Even if you have a small house, you’ll be able to install it.”

Trainees like Fahnbulleh are already envisioning how the skills they acquire can be put to immediate use. “I don’t need to wait for a company to employ me. I can self-employ, and this training gives me an additional skill I can sell to people,” she remarked.

Nemtek, with over 35 years of experience in electric fencing technology, has expanded across 72 countries. Their collaboration with P&D Electric Company marks a significant investment in Liberia’s security infrastructure, aiming to equip the next generation of electricians with the skills to enhance safety while also creating new economic opportunities.
