MONROVIA — Liberian economist and outspoken political figure Samuel Jackson has announced the death of his wife, ending hours of emotional social media updates in which he had pleaded with the public for prayers as she fought for her life.
Jackson confirmed the tragic loss in a brief message posted on his Facebook page.
“My wife didn’t make it. I just said my final goodbye. God knows best.”
The heartbreaking announcement followed a series of distressing posts in which Jackson described his wife’s critical medical condition and the urgent efforts to secure treatment.
Medical Emergency Sparks Plea for Prayers
Earlier in the day, Jackson revealed that his wife had collapsed and was receiving treatment at St. Joseph’s Catholic Hospital in Monrovia, commonly known as Catholic Hospital.
“My wife fell out. Semi conscious at Catholic Hospital. Prayers please!!!”
As the situation deteriorated, Jackson expressed frustration over the difficulty of securing emergency transportation, saying the ambulance needed to transfer her was not immediately available.
“Aye my country. Two places. Ambulance is down in the garage. Only God can help this woman. I’m just calm. God. We need a miracle. Can’t fly her out until she’s stable.”
Gratitude to Supporters
Before confirming her death, the economist had also posted a message thanking supporters who had been sending prayers and messages of encouragement as the family struggled through the crisis.
“My greatest appreciation to all of the well wishers. We are not out of danger yet. We need your prayers. God bless and keep us all!”

News of the death quickly triggered an outpouring of condolences across social media, with many Liberians expressing sympathy for Jackson and his family.
The incident has also reignited conversations about Liberia’s emergency health response system, with some citizens raising concerns about the availability of critical services such as ambulance transport during medical emergencies.
