Den-Vera Clinic wins 2025 MoMo Heroes of Change Award for transforming rural healthcare

MONROVIA – Den-Vera Medical Laboratory and Clinic, a local healthcare provider based in Greenville, Sinoe County, has been named the winner of the 2025 Lonestar Cell MTN MoMo Heroes of Change Award, selected from five finalists.

Cheering supporters described the win as more than just recognition. To them, it proves what “passion, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment can accomplish even with limited resources.”

Founded in 2020 by Dennis and Vera, the clinic was born out of what many call a life-changing decision. The couple left their lives in Monrovia, used personal savings, and opened the first, and still the only, private clinic in Greenville.

Their mission was clear: to provide affordable, quality healthcare to underserved communities, especially women and children.

Growing Into a Lifeline

What began as a modest dream is now a lifeline for thousands. Den-Vera operates with 22 dedicated healthcare practitioners, including doctors, nurses, lab technicians, and support staff. The clinic offers free consultations for children under five and has served more than 15,000 patients across Sinoe and Grand Kru Counties, with seventy percent of the patients being women and children.

Remarkably, the clinic has achieved this growth without donor or government support, relying solely on personal investment and community commitment.

Filling a Critical Gap

Today, Den-Vera stands as the leading medical laboratory and clinic in both Sinoe and Grand Kru, filling a vital healthcare gap in that part of rural Liberia.

Winning the MoMo Heroes of Change Award, organizers say, will give the clinic greater visibility and open doors for government and donor partnerships. It also presents new opportunities to expand care for women, children, and people living with disabilities. “This victory belongs not just to Den-Vera, but to every community member who has supported their journey and every voter who believed in their mission,” a Lonestar MTN representative said. “Together, let’s continue to uplift rural healthcare and amplify the voices of those making a difference where it matters most.”
