ANKARA, Türkiye – Liberia and Türkiye have moved to broaden cooperation across trade, energy, agriculture and other priority sectors after President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., held high-level bilateral talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Friday as part of a working visit aimed at strengthening diplomatic ties between the two countries.

President Erdoğan received President Boakai at the Presidential Complex in Ankara, where the two leaders reviewed the longstanding relations between Liberia and Türkiye and explored new opportunities to deepen collaboration.

The discussions centered on trade and investment, infrastructure development, agriculture, healthcare, education, energy, technical cooperation and capacity building. The two Presidents also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest, recognizing the importance of continued collaboration in advancing peace, stability and sustainable development.

President Boakai expressed appreciation for the cordial relations between Liberia and Türkiye and highlighted his Administration’s focus on expanding partnerships that support Liberia’s national development priorities under the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development.

The Liberian leader emphasized that Liberia remains open for business and continues to strengthen the policy and regulatory environment for responsible investment. He encouraged greater Turkish investment in key sectors, including energy, transportation, agriculture, manufacturing, mining, tourism and other strategic industries capable of creating employment and driving sustainable economic growth.

President Erdoğan welcomed Liberia’s efforts to improve governance, strengthen the investment climate and accelerate economic transformation. He expressed Türkiye’s readiness to expand cooperation with Liberia through increased trade, investment, technical assistance and development partnerships that deliver tangible benefits for both countries.

During his visit, President Boakai is also holding separate engagements with Turkish business leaders and investors to showcase Liberia’s investment potential and promote private sector participation in priority sectors of the economy. The meetings are expected to open new avenues for commercial partnerships and investment that will contribute to Liberia’s long-term economic development.

President Boakai is accompanied by the Minister of State Without Portfolio, Hadja Mamaka Bility; the National Security Advisor, Samuel Kofi Woods; and other senior Government officials.

The President is expected to return to Liberia upon completion of his official engagements in Türkiye.
