MONROVIA — Defendant Bill Jallah, accused of murdering his girlfriend, Princess Zuo, in Paynesville last December, is expected to take the witness stand Tuesday as the prosecution closes its evidence in the case.
Jallah, indicted in March during the February 2025 term of court, faces charges of murder, aggravated assault, and attempted murder. He initially pleaded guilty in tears before Criminal Court ‘B’ Judge Wesseh A. Wesseh on Aug. 27, but the court later set aside the plea and ordered prosecutors to present their evidence.
According to the indictment, Jallah allegedly armed himself with a silver-bladed knife and stabbed Princess seven times on the night of Dec. 21, 2024, following an argument at a nightclub near Du-port Road. Investigators said the wounds, which included injuries to her chest, neck, and back, caused her to bleed profusely. She was pronounced dead on arrival at ELWA Hospital.
Police recovered the knife at the crime scene. The indictment describes the killing as premeditated, noting that Jallah concealed the weapon under his clothing before confronting Wesseh.
Court records show that earlier that evening, Princess complained about Jallah’s behavior to his father, who relayed the concern to other family members. Jallah’s sisters later joined the couple in an effort to mediate the dispute, but prosecutors say the defendant continued to pursue Wesseh aggressively before fatally attacking her.
On Aug. 28, prosecutors presented both oral and documentary evidence, including a coroner’s report, to support the murder charge. They have reserved the right to call a rebuttal witness if necessary.
Prosecutor Cllr. Isaac Williams raised no objection to a six-count defense motion for plea bargaining, saying it could save the state time and resources. The defense, led by Cllr. Jimmy S. Bombo, indicated Jallah had waived his constitutional right to a jury trial, allowing the presiding judge to rule as both judge and jury.
The trial is continuing this week, with Jallah now expected to give his own account from the witness stand. If convicted, he faces life imprisonment.
