Your Excellency President Joseph Nyumah Boakai,
Please accept my compliments of the highest esteem.
My name is Hon. Bernard Blue Benson Jr. Representative of Electoral District 17, National Chairman of the People’s Liberation Party and contested on the ticket of the Coalition of Democratic Change.
Despite being an opposition Lawmaker, I’m obliged to encourage, support and promote all your efforts for development in this country because Liberia is more important than any alliance to politics or religion.
I write to raise a concern that have the propensity of derailing your efforts to attract investors in our country. I believe we must be a responsible democracy that abides by the rule of law especially in the issue of a concession that have been given all the legal authority up to the level of the Supreme Court to operate.
The Concession called the Liberia Traffic Management was Passed by both Houses and signed into Law. The concession is a Law. We must abide by the Law rid of all the sentiments.
If there is a need to rectify the concession, then we as the people Representatives must do so in accordance with the law to reflect the realities of the day for which we are prepared.
At present, a Concession signed into law is being disregarded by the Ministry of Transport against orders from your office and the Ministry of Justice.
The directives in your communication dated January 20, 2025 to the Ministry of Transport is being grossly disregarded as the Transport Ministry is still issuing Drivers Licenses and registering Vehicles through another company called MDMC. This is wrong and intentional disregard to the highest seat of the land.
Illegal stay orders are being placed on the concession’s operations despite the opinion of the Supreme Court. These harassments and mockery of our highest courts opinion is alarming.
Your Excellency, please take siege of this matter as Our country with so much to offer needs attractive reputation in trade to prosper and we must be mindful that potential trade partners and investors are watching closely.
