Monrovia – Former Liberian international footballer Albert Stages Kamara has launched his fifth elite sports academy, the Power Sports International Academy (PSIA), in Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia, further expanding his youth development network across Southeast Asia.
The 43-year-old, widely recognized for his work in grassroots football development, has spent recent years building structured sports programs that combine athletic training with education and character development.
Kamara first established the Power Soccer Academy in Myanmar before expanding it into Power Sports International Academy, which now operates in multiple countries. The academies have trained thousands of young athletes, providing pathways to professional football, higher education, and personal development.
Before opening the academy in Malaysia, Kamara served as Assistant Sports and Activities Coordinator at the International School Yangon, where he helped develop school sports programs while refining the coaching philosophy that now underpins PSIA.
A UEFA B-licensed coach certified through the German Football Association (DFB), Kamara also holds qualifications in sports coaching, youth development and sports administration. His approach emphasizes technical excellence, discipline, leadership and academic achievement.
The new academy in Miri will offer structured training in football and other sports while promoting values such as teamwork, respect, discipline and leadership.
“I had a dream 18 years ago, and today I am living that dream,” Kamara said. “Nothing makes me happier than seeing young players progress into professional football and educational opportunities. This mission is bigger than me, and I will continue dedicating my life to helping young people achieve their full potential through sport.”
Kamara also serves as Technical Director and part-owner of Indera SC, where he oversees the club’s technical development, youth structure and long-term football strategy.
He said one of his long-term goals is to strengthen football ties between Africa and Asia by creating opportunities for talented Liberian players to access elite training environments and professional clubs across Southeast Asia.
The launch of PSIA Miri marks another milestone in Kamara’s mission to use sport as a platform for developing athletes, expanding educational opportunities and nurturing future leaders.
