AITB reaffirms commitment to strengthening Liberia’s TVET sector

MONROVIA — The Director General of the Agricultural and Industrial Training Bureau (AITB), Abraham Billy, says the agency remains committed to advancing Liberia’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector as part of broader efforts to drive national development through skills training.

Billy said AITB has developed its 2025 Service Charter and has begun rolling out its Performance Management and Compliance System (PMCS). He said the initiative aims to boost public awareness and align AITB’s activities with national development priorities.

“Government institutions are working diligently to meet service delivery benchmarks,” Billy said. “At AITB, we are doing our part to ensure the success of the national agenda for inclusive development.”

He noted that the government expects public institutions to perform effectively and deliver measurable outcomes that positively impact citizens. To that end, Billy said AITB is increasing transparency and accountability by informing the public about its services and operations.

As part of its youth empowerment efforts, AITB has engaged approximately 30 young Liberians to support the agency’s programs and contribute to the country’s growing TVET sector.

Billy said AITB works in collaboration with key government stakeholders, including the ministries of Youth and Sports, Education, Labor, Public Works, Justice, and Commerce and Industry, to promote skills development and create employment opportunities for young people across Liberia.

The Agricultural and Industrial Training Bureau is a key government entity responsible for developing skilled human resources for Liberia’s agricultural and industrial sectors.

It also serves as the technical and administrative secretariat for the National Council for Vocational/Technical Education and Training (NCV/TET), which oversees national TVET policy decisions. AITB’s core functions include developing TVET curricula, monitoring and accrediting institutions, conducting trade testing, and training instructors.
