GBARNGA – Bong County Senator Prince Moye is facing mounting criticism from residents of Nyaquelleh-La in Electoral District #3 over what they describe as his failure to fulfill promises made during the 2020 senatorial election campaign.
According to Town Chief Oldman Kleemin, Moye pledged to renovate the community’s only elementary school, a commitment that won him overwhelming support against then-incumbent Henry Yallah. However, nearly four years later, residents say the senator has abandoned them.
Speaking to journalists on Thursday, Kleemin expressed frustration over what he termed as betrayal by the lawmaker, who has not only failed to fulfill his promise but has also not returned to thank the people for their votes.
“Since he left, he has not come back here. During the election, he used to visit all the time, but now he has turned his back on us. The school he promised to fix is still standing in bad condition,” Kleemin lamented.
The Nyaquelleh-La Public School serves hundreds of children from the town and neighboring communities but remains in a state of disrepair. Residents report a severe shortage of chairs, cracked floors, and a leaking roof. The situation is exacerbated by the irregular presence of volunteer teachers, which Kleemin blamed on the government’s delay in placing them on payroll.
Responding to the allegations, the Chief of Office Staff for Senator Moye, Nuwoe Kellen, defended the lawmaker, stating that “the senator and his team have always been available to engage with communities in addressing their concerns.”
Despite this response, residents remain skeptical, questioning the senator’s commitment to the very people who propelled him to office. With elections on the horizon, Moye’s critics say his failure to deliver on past promises may come back to haunt him at the ballot box.
