MONROVIA — Liberia National Team Captain, Murphy Oscar Dorley, has donated a token of appreciation of US$5,000 to his teammates, according to journalist Kolubah Zayzay, who traveled with the team.

This gesture comes just hours after a resilient Lone Star squad secured a 1-1 draw against hosts Togo, with William Gibson’s extra-time equalizer.

The match marked the first of six qualifying games for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be hosted by Morocco.

Dorley was appointed National Team Captain in March 2024, when Mario Marinica took over as head coach, replacing Ansu Keita.

The 26-year-old Slavia Prague midfielder scored in his first match as captain, a 2-0 win over Djibouti in the preliminary rounds of the Morocco 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

The captain’s donation is expected to serve as motivation ahead of the crucial encounter against Algeria on Tuesday at the SKD Stadium in Paynesville.

Dorley made his international debut on July 5, 2015, and has since made 37 appearances, scoring three goals.

Currently, he is one of Liberia’s best international players, having made 109 appearances since joining Czech Republic top-flight giants Slavia Prague in 2019.
