Rep. Toles Fires Back at Gray, Challenges His 12-Year Development Record

Published: October 14, 2026

MONROVIA — Montserrado County Electoral District 8 Representative Prince Toles has launched a blistering attack on his predecessor, former Representative Moses Acarus Gray, branding him “Uncle Book Jimmy” and challenging him to account for his 12 years in the Legislature rather than engaging in what he described as political criticism without practical solutions.

In a strongly worded Facebook post, Toles questioned Gray’s development record, contrasting his alleged personal investments and luxurious lifestyle with what he claimed was a lack of meaningful infrastructure development in District 8 during the former lawmaker’s tenure.

The latest confrontation comes amid continuing political tensions between the two politicians, following recent criticisms of Toles’ leadership by Gray. Their rivalry dates back to the 2023 legislative elections, when Toles defeated Gray, ending his 12-year representation of the district.

“I think we need to add ‘Uncle’ to Book Jimmy’s name because you clearly lack wisdom and common sense,” Toles wrote. “Uncle Book Jimmy, compare anything valuable you did for District #8 people during your 12 years in office that is more valuable than the luxury wedding you had in Paris, France when you was representative.”

Toles further challenged Gray to identify development projects completed during his tenure that could be compared with what he described as Gray’s personal acquisitions.

“Compare any meaningful development project you delivered in District #8 with the mansion you built in Margibi County. Compare any project you completed for our people with the luxury jeep you purchased for yourself.”

The incumbent lawmaker demanded photographic evidence of projects undertaken by Gray, particularly public facilities and infrastructure inherited by the current district leadership following the 2023 elections.

“I dare you to post pictures showing the condition of the assets and projects you left behind when we defeated you in 2023. I challenge you to showcase any project you delivered during your 12 years in office that is more valuable to our people than the personal luxuries I have mentioned.”

Escalating his criticism, Toles accused Gray of failing to use his legislative influence to deliver meaningful development for residents, while making a serious allegation of wrongdoing against his predecessor.

“Considering the position you had in your second term In the Legislature, you were a common thief & the Chairman of Public Toilet Renovation in the republic of Liberia.”

The accusation was made by Toles in his Facebook statement and has not been independently substantiated.

Toles also dismissed what he characterized as Gray’s reliance on political rhetoric, arguing that residents of District 8 deserve practical solutions rather than repeated criticism.

“That outdated rhetoric about knowing the issues and being able to talk is over, friend..Our people need problem-solvers, not fake theoretical talkers who specialize in criticism without offering practical solutions.”

Defending his leadership, Toles pledged to modernize public infrastructure and pursue development initiatives intended to benefit current and future generations.

“Under my watch, these public assets will be modernized to meet the highest standards, just as we are witnessing the ongoing transformation at the University of Liberia. We are committed to building infrastructure that serves our people today and benefits generations to come.”

The District 8 lawmaker maintained that his development record compares favorably with Gray’s 12 years in office, insisting that his administration has accomplished more within a shorter period.

“There is no comparison between what you achieved in 12 years and what we have accomplished in just 2 years and 10 months on Capitol Hill. So, Uncle Book Jimmy, instead of recycling old political rhetoric, show the people your record & account for what you did on capital hill for the people of district #8 that’s better than what we are doing. I dare you to show them in pictorials.”

Toles further threatened to publish photographs of Gray’s alleged personal assets alongside what he described as the former lawmaker’s development record, apparently seeking to draw public attention to the contrast between personal wealth and community development.

“I will post pics of your personal assets and other personal achievement, & what you did for our people after service for 12 years in my next post,” he emphasized.
