MONROVIA — Former Lone Star captain Anthony Laffor and midfielder Zah Rayan Krangar are among 100 participants who earned the CAF License D coaching certificate, organizers announced Monday.
The participants, largely made up of former players, were divided into two batches for the training program, which focused on grassroots football development in line with the Confederation of African Football’s coaching curriculum.
The CAF D Diploma is an entry-level coaching qualification designed to equip beginner coaches with fundamental technical, tactical and managerial skills needed to train young players.
Other former Liberia internationals who took part in the course include Marcus Macaulay, who remains active at club level with LISCR FC, as well as Edwin Kai, Myers Garlo, Little Lewis and Ezekiel Doekpah, among others.
Speaking at the event, Mustapha Raji, president of the Liberia Football Association, underscored the importance of supporting former national team players as they transition into coaching.
“This is a combination of support from the FIFA Forward Programme and development funds from the Liberia Maritime Authority,” Raji said. “We were able to offer a life-after-football program for our former national team players at zero cost for the course.”
Raji reaffirmed the association’s commitment to expanding training opportunities across all levels of football development and called on the Ministry of Youth and Sports to integrate more former players into its programs.
Deputy Youth and Sports Minister G. Andy Quamie congratulated the participants and urged them to remain disciplined and professional as they pursue coaching careers.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen grassroots football and build technical capacity within Liberia’s football ecosystem.
