20-Year-Old Fatally Stabbed in Kakata During Robbery Attempt

KAKATA, Margibi — A 20-year-old man was fatally stabbed in Kakata on Saturday night during a botched robbery. The suspect, identified as Prince Kanneh, also known by his street name “God First,” allegedly attacked Michael Freeman, around 7:30 p.m. as he was returning home with family members.

According to family accounts, Freeman and his aunt had traveled from Monrovia to Kakata to attend a relative’s graduation ceremony. Freeman’s grandfather, Tee Harris Worlobah, recounted that following the celebration, Freeman helped transport chairs and other items used for the occasion. On their way back, a gang confronted Freeman and his companions, reportedly trying to steal his Bluetooth headphones.

When Freeman resisted, the assailant allegedly stabbed him in the neck with a sharp object, believed to be a pair of scissors. Freeman was initially rushed to Barkolleh Health Center, a private clinic, where staff struggled to handle his injuries. He was later transferred to Kakata Health Center, where he was pronounced dead around 10:30 p.m., nearly three hours after the attack, due to severe blood loss.

Following the incident, a police manhunt led to the arrest of the suspect, Prince Kanneh, on Sunday evening. Police sources confirmed that Kanneh was apprehended in Barnerville and is currently in custody in Monrovia, where he is undergoing interrogation.
