Truck crushes taxi, driver escapes as victims fight for life on RIA Highway

Robertfield Highway – Several passengers have been critically injured in a devastating motor accident today at Boy’s Town Junction along the Robertfield Highway. The accident occurred Sunday afternoon.

A live broadcast by Liberia National Television (LNTV) depicted a grim scene, showing a large truck atop a crushed commercial yellow taxi, which was carrying several passengers at the time of impact.

Though the exact cause of the accident is still unknown, eyewitnesses reported that the truck abruptly veered off its path, smashing directly into the taxi. Emergency responders arrived swiftly, utilizing heavy earth-moving machinery to lift the truck off the severely damaged vehicle – thanks to the ongoing road construction in the area.

Passersby joined emergency teams to help free trapped passengers. Among the rescued victims was a young child, tragically in critical condition, and a woman showing signs of life. Three other passengers were also retrieved from the wreckage, suffering severe injuries. All four individuals were immediately rushed by an Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) ambulance to the 14 Military Hospital for urgent treatment.

Meanwhile, the driver of the truck reportedly fled the scene and remains at large.
