Urey Urges Shaita Angels to stay focused after trophy miss

MONROVIA – Benita Whitney Urey, chief executive officer and president of Shaita Angels, has called on her players to remain optimistic and continue striving for success despite the club’s failure to secure a trophy in the recently concluded 2024-25 Liberia Football Association season.

In a statement issued Wednesday, April 23, Urey emphasized the importance of perseverance and unity, assuring players that brighter days lie ahead.

“I want to encourage you to keep your heads up and look forward to the future,” she said, urging the squad to stay motivated and resilient.

Shaita Angels finished as runners-up in the Upper Women’s League for the second consecutive season, narrowly missing the title to champions Determine Girls.

The club also suffered a tough defeat in the quarterfinals of the Orange Cup, where they were edged out by Determine Girls in a dramatic penalty shootout.

Despite those setbacks, Urey expressed unwavering confidence in the team’s potential and encouraged the players to maintain solidarity for the good of the club.

“Stick together for the good of the club,” she advised, highlighting the importance of teamwork and a shared vision for success.

In addition to motivating her players, Urey extended heartfelt gratitude to the club’s sponsors, fans, supporters, and technical staff.

“I just want to take this time to say a special thank-you to all of you for the love and support during the season,” she said.

As Shaita Angels prepare for the next season, Urey’s message resonates as a testament to the club’s dedication to growth and its relentless pursuit of excellence in women’s football.

The team remains committed to achieving its dreams and competing at the highest level.
