MONROVIA — The Sports Writers Association of Liberia (SWAL) has received the two thousand United States dollars (US$2,000) pledge made by FC Fassell President Cassell Anthony Kuoh during its 2024 anniversary ceremony.
Presenting the cash to the Chairman of the 2024 SWAL Anniversary Committee, Michael N. Solomon, Kuoh acknowledged the significant role SWAL continues to play in sports development, particularly in football. He reiterated his commitment to financially supporting the organization.
Kuoh, who is also the CEO of New Energy Electric Vehicles (NEEV), emphasized that SWAL can only thrive as a vibrant institution with adequate financial support from stakeholders. He reassured sports writers of his dedication to ensuring that SWAL acquires its own headquarters soon—a promise he made during the anniversary celebration.
Receiving the funds, SWAL President Varmah Kamara expressed profound gratitude, describing the gesture as extremely timely. Kamara highlighted Mr. Kuoh’s unwavering commitment to football’s growth at all levels and his recognition of SWAL as an integral part of that progress.
He further noted that the funds come at a critical moment, as the association urgently needs to address pressing obligations, including the regularization of its membership status with the Association of International Sports Press (AIPS), among other priorities.
The SWAL President urged others who made pledges during the 2024 SWAL Anniversary to emulate Mr. Kuoh’s example and fulfill their commitments.
Mr. Kuoh’s gesture represents the most significant financial contribution SWAL has received from an individual or institution since the commencement of the Varmah Kamara administration.
In a related development, the Ministry of Youth and Sports recently contributed US$750 to support SWAL’s operations as part of the 2024-2025 National County Sports Meet.
