SKD Stadium to launch bathroom hotline

Paynesville – As the National County Sports Meet continues, the management of the Samuel Kanyon Doe (SKD) Sports Complex has announced the launch of a bathroom hotline to ensure the cleanliness of the stadium’s restrooms. The initiative is set to take effect next week.

In November 2024, football fans were left embarrassed during Liberia’s 2-1 defeat to Equatorial Guinea when the stadium’s bathrooms were found lacking basic toiletries. The incident drew widespread criticism and underscored the need for improved sanitation at the facility.

Speaking to The Liberian Investigator on Friday, January 17, 2025, SKD Stadium Manager Lincoln Johnson highlighted the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ (MYS) commitment to maintaining a hygienic environment for all spectators, athletes, and officials attending the ongoing National County Sports Meet.

He explained that the hotline will allow attendees to report any issues regarding bathroom cleanliness, enabling swift action to address concerns.

“Maintaining a clean and sanitary environment is paramount during events of this scale,” Johnson stated. “We urge all fans to utilize the hotline to report any cleanliness issues they encounter. This will help us ensure that the facilities remain in top condition throughout the event.”

Johnson encouraged everyone to play their part in keeping the stadium clean by promptly reporting issues. He expressed confidence that maintaining a clean and safe environment would enhance the overall experience of the National County Sports Meet.

“The hotline will be monitored closely by a dedicated team ready to respond to any reports,” he assured the public.

The initiative has been welcomed by expected attendees, who appreciate the proactive approach to safeguarding their health and comfort.

“This measure is laudable and will help our stadium maintain clean bathroom spaces,” said Melvin Paul, a supporter of Nimba County.

Kumba Kollie of Lofa County also commended the Ministry of Youth and Sports for the effort, saying, “This is the change we voted for, and I must appreciate the ministry for thinking outside the box.”
