Kouh Accuses LFA of Refusing $5,000 Motivational Bonus to U-17 Women’s Team

Monrovia – Former Liberia Football Association (LFA) Vice President for Operations, Cassell Anthony Kuoh, has expressed his disappointment in the LFA for allegedly refusing his offer of a $5,000 motivational bonus to the U-17 women’s team ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Nigeria.

Kuoh, who has presidential aspirations for the LFA, claims the association imposed unnecessary protocols preventing him from presenting his donation. He expressed his frustration after the team’s 4-1 defeat to Nigeria, suggesting the rejection was politically motivated due to his opposition to LFA President Mustapha Raji in the upcoming 2026 election.

Despite contacting key officials including Vice President Sekou Konneh and Executive Committee member Pawala Janyan, Kuoh says his efforts were ignored. He highlighted that other Liberians, such as Dr. Thomas Tweh and the Urey family, successfully contributed, making the refusal of his donation particularly troubling.

Kuoh recounted his attempts to reach the appropriate officials, including Women’s Football head and Third Vice President Jodi Seaton, who redirected him to the Deputy Secretary General. After multiple unsuccessful attempts, he concluded that his calls were deliberately ignored.

“We are not talking about political differences; we are talking about motivating the girls financially so they can perform for our national team,” Kuoh asserted. He believes the defeat resulted from a lack of motivation and criticized the LFA for not supporting stakeholders willing to aid the team.

In response, LFA First Vice President Sekou Konneh welcomed contributions from all well-meaning Liberians, emphasizing there are no special protocols for donations. He cited the Urey family’s successful donation as evidence of the LFA’s openness to support.

Despite repeated attempts, Third Vice President Jodi Seaton has not responded to requests for comment on the matter.
