Gono secures loan move to Norway

Liberian striker Emmanuel Gono has joined Norwegian First Division club IK Start on loan from Swedish Allsvenskan side AIK Solna.

The 19-year-old made the move in search of more playing time as he continues his development in European football. Gono will spend the remainder of the 2025 season at IK Start.

“AIK Football agrees with Norwegian club IK Start on the loan transfer of forward Emmanuel Gono,” AIK Solna said in a statement.

As part of the loan agreement, AIK has extended Gono’s contract by an additional year, keeping him with the club until 2028.

The former Muscat FC and FC Kallon (Sierra Leone) striker secured a permanent deal with AIK in 2024.

Gono began his football career at Muscat FC before moving to Sierra Leonean side FC Kallon in December 2022. That same month, Muscat FC and FC Kallon announced a development program aimed at preparing him for European football.

In the spring of 2023, he had a trial with Italian club Udinese before eventually signing a contract with AIK on February 26, 2024, running until December 31, 2027.
