Monrovia – The U.S.-based organization GOGO-Fit-Camp has announced its second training program in Liberia, set to commence next month.
Speaking from the United States, Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel G. Kollie emphasized the organization’s mission to foster the holistic development of young athletes through football.
“Our program aims to provide a supportive and inclusive environment where players of all backgrounds can thrive both on and off the field,” Kollie explained.
He highlighted the organization’s focus on expert coaching, mentorship, and character-building values such as teamwork, discipline, and resilience. “By instilling a love for the game and equipping players with the skills and mindset for success, we aspire to cultivate not only talented football players but also confident, compassionate individuals prepared to make a positive impact in the world,” he added.
The training program will span two weeks. The first week will feature a coaching seminar covering the fundamentals of youth development. It will include education on coaches’ training, technical warm-ups, stretching, basic skills, dribbling, passing, shooting, tactical sessions, positioning, formations, and small-sided games.
The second week will focus on specialized training and fitness.
Reflecting on the program’s previous success, Kollie recounted the first training session held in December 2023 in Montserrado County. That program included workshops for over 50 coaches from the Orange National First Division League, second division, and grassroots teams. Additionally, more than 44 football clubs, ranging from first division to grassroots levels, participated in the training.
Founded in 2015 by two Liberians based in the United States, GOGO-Fit-Camp is a non-profit organization dedicated to training coaches, players, trainers, and young people to maintain physical fitness and combat illnesses through active lifestyles.
