Ghanaian Striker Jordan Ayew to Launch Charity in Liberia

MONROVIA — Ghanaian International and Leicester City striker Jordan Ayew will officially launch his charity foundation this weekend in Liberia.

At a press conference in Monrovia on Tuesday, Clarence Lee Chea, head of Team Ayew Liberia, said the Ghanaian striker has decided to extend his humanitarian efforts to Liberia.

Chea, the Beach Soccer Coordinator at the Liberia Football Association, came across the Ayew family while in Ghana as a refugee.

He disclosed that the foundation will make its first donation on Sunday, October 13, to the Love for Child Orphanage Home on the RIA Highway.

Chea named rice, cash, and household materials, among others, as items expected to be donated by the former Crystal Palace striker.

Ayew will also support an educational scholarship scheme for two needy students in each university across the country, Chea further disclosed.

He announced that Ayew is expected to be in Liberia in December 2024.

On August 23, 2024, Leicester City signed Ayew for £5 million on a two-year contract. He had previously played for other English clubs like Swansea City, Aston Villa, and Crystal Palace.

Ayew made his first senior appearance for Ghana on September 5, 2010, in a 3–0 win against Swaziland during the 2012 AFCON Qualification match.

He has since earned 106 caps, scoring 28 times for the Black Stars.
