Fedolph Marshall faces suspension for rejecting LBA award

MONROVIA – Liberian basketball star Fedolph Marshall is set to face suspension after publicly rejecting the Steal Award presented to him by the Liberia Basketball Association (LBA), the federation has confirmed.

On February 8, 2025, Marshall was honored with the award at the Liberia Basketball Awards ceremony at the SKD Gymnasium. However, the star guard later took to social media to express his shock, stating he did not deserve the accolade.

“I was shocked because I never had a single steal in the league,” Marshall wrote. The former LTC Bushrod Bulls standout even suggested that the award be given to his former teammate and Bulls captain, Emmanuel Wrimene, whom he believed was the rightful recipient.

LBA President Confirms Suspension

Marshall’s public remarks have sparked a wave of criticism, with some basketball followers accusing him of undermining the integrity of the league. In response, LBA President Abraham Samukai told reporters that the association would take disciplinary action against the player.

“We will not tolerate actions that bring the national league into disrepute. Fedolph Marshall will be suspended,” Samukai declared.

A New Chapter with LPRC Oilers

Marshall, widely regarded as one of the league’s top talents, recently signed with the LPRC Oilers following a stellar two-season stint with the Bushrod Bulls. In December 2024, he announced his departure from the team, expressing gratitude to Bulls fans.

“My time with Bushrod Bulls has been nothing but joy over the past two years. Unfortunately, we didn’t bring the championship home to the people of Logan Town, but it was a privilege representing the club,” Marshall said.
