PRAGUE, Czech Republic — Liberian footballers Oscar Dorley and Sampson Dweh are generating major transfer buzz across Europe, with top-flight clubs from Germany, Spain, France, Turkey, and England reportedly showing serious interest.
Slavia Prague, current club of Liberian national team captain Oscar Dorley, is now open to selling the midfielder this summer. The Czech giants are said to be impressed with the rise of Nigerian youngster David Moses, who stepped in seamlessly after Dorley’s temporary absence late in the season.
Moses made his debut in a 2–0 win against FK Pardubice, coming on as a direct replacement for Dorley. Since then, he has made 17 appearances, registering a goal and an assist—convincing the Slavia hierarchy that he is ready to take on a bigger role.
Dorley, 26, has been a pivotal figure at Slavia since joining the club in 2019. With his contract nearing its end and new challenges beckoning, several European clubs are circling. According to Liberian sports journalist Kla Wesley, Spanish La Liga side Sevilla, Turkish powerhouse Galatasaray, and German Bundesliga clubs SC Freiburg and Eintracht Frankfurt have all made inquiries about the midfielder.
Freiburg are reportedly leading the chase for the former Monrovia Club Breweries star, who currently plays under the Global Pharma banner.
Meanwhile, 23-year-old defender Sampson Dweh is also attracting international attention after a breakout season with Viktoria Plzen. The former LPRC Oilers defender recorded a league-best 53 defensive duels in the Czech First League and topped the charts in aerial duels won, solidifying his status as one of the most dominant center backs in Central Europe.
German side VfL Wolfsburg and France’s Stade de Reims are both reportedly interested in signing Dweh. However, Reims’ recent relegation to Ligue 2 may complicate negotiations.
In England, newly promoted Sheffield United and Championship side Leicester City are also believed to be monitoring the Liberian’s situation.
Dweh’s towering presence and defensive prowess have earned him the nickname “The Liberian Minister of Defense” among Viktoria Plzen supporters and local press—an accolade that underlines his growing reputation across Europe.
If finalized, both transfers would mark another significant milestone for Liberian football, as Dorley and Dweh edge closer to joining some of Europe’s top leagues.
