MONROVIA — Liberian Women’s Upper League champions, Determine Girls, have announced the signing of Guinean international goalkeeper Djaka Cherif Haidara. Haidara has inked a two-year contract with the four-time Liberian champions.
The 24-year-old shot-stopper joins from AS Mandé, the reigning champions of the Malian Women’s League.
Haidara had an impressive run during the recently concluded WAFU Zone A CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers in Sierra Leone, where she was named the competition’s Best Goalkeeper. She played a pivotal role in AS Mandé’s success, helping the team clinch both the Malian Women’s League title and the FA Cup.
Haidara has represented Guinea at both the senior and youth levels in international competition. She becomes the third Guinean player in the Determine Girls’ squad, joining strikers Bountou Sylla and Mabinta Kamara, both of whom have had successful stints at the Liberian club over the last three seasons.
Despite missing out on a second appearance in the CAF Women’s Champions League finals after losing two crucial matches in the recent qualifiers in Sierra Leone, Determine Girls remain a dominant force in the local league. The club is now gearing up for a fifth consecutive league title.
