It was a mixed night for Liberian internationals Murphy Oscar Dorley and Sampson Dweh in their respective UEFA Europa League fixtures.
Dorley played the full 90 minutes for Slavia Prague, but it wasn’t enough as Athletic Club Bilbao secured a 1-0 win at home in their third group-stage match. Nico Williams’ 33rd-minute strike was the decisive blow for Los Leones, moving them to seven points from their first three matches. Slavia Prague, still chasing their first-ever away win against Spanish opposition in European competition, couldn’t find an equalizer despite a spirited push.
Meanwhile, Sampson Dweh endured a more difficult evening. The Liberian international was sent off in the 70th minute during PAOK’s 2-2 draw against Viktoria Plzen. This marked Dweh’s first red card since his European debut for Plzen last season. The former LPRC Oilers center-back has become a key figure in the Czech club’s defense, and his absence will be keenly felt in their next Europa League match against Real Sociedad.
Both Liberians face different challenges ahead as the Europa League group stage continues.
