Monrovia – Renowned female football stakeholder and President of Shaita Angels Football Club, Benita Urey, has concluded a successful two-day scouting trip in Ghana, held from Tuesday to Thursday, April 3.
The program brought together female footballers from across Ghana, with the aim of identifying promising talents to join the Liberian club for the 2025/2026 season.
Shaita Angels, based in Careysburg, is a top-tier club in Liberia’s Upper Women’s League and the reigning Orange Cup champion. Since its founding in 2019, the club has earned recognition for investing in both local and international players from across West Africa.
Speaking to The Liberian Investigator at Roberts International Airport upon her return to Liberia on Friday, Ms. Urey described the trip as a resounding success.
“My trip to Ghana was a huge success. It was all about meeting people who can help push Liberian players beyond Liberia, as well as scouting players to join Shaita Angels next season,” she said.
During her visit, Urey met with club owners from Albania and Ghana, collaborated with Ghanaian videographers, and held discussions with football agents from around the world. She also connected with Liberian footballers and club owners, further strengthening her network within the regional football community.
“I’m grateful for this opportunity and pray for the success of all Shaita Angels players and the club at large,” Urey added.
The scouting mission highlights Shaita Angels’ commitment to building a stronger squad and promoting the development of women’s football in Liberia, while also creating international pathways for aspiring Liberian players.
