Monrovia – D. Eric Kpayea, the National Secretary General of the Liberia People Democratic Party (LPDP), has resigned from his position and membership in the party, effective immediately. The LPDP, one of the three parties that formed the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) led by former President George Weah, governed Liberia from 2018 until January 2024 before losing to the Unity Party.
In his resignation letter addressed to LPDP National Chairman D. Wah Hne Jr., Kpayea cited “intense internal disagreements regarding the party’s policy direction” as the primary reason for his departure. He emphasized that his decision was made after careful consideration and is essential for him to pursue a more independent approach to national political discourse.
“After a decade of devoted service across various capacities, I am tendering my resignation as both National Secretary General and member of the Liberia People Democratic Party (LPDP) effective immediately,” Kpayea wrote. He expressed unwavering commitment to advocating for good governance, democracy, and civil liberties.
Kpayea extended his heartfelt gratitude to the grassroots supporters of the LPDP, acknowledging their dedication, sacrifices, support, and respect throughout his tenure. He conveyed his best wishes to the party in all its future endeavors.
