Des Moines, Iowa — The Congress for Democratic Change, United States of America (CDC-USA), is embroiled in a leadership controversy following what critics now call the recent “Iowa Fiasco,” a gathering condemned by the CDC-USA Reformers. This faction strongly criticized the actions of the former chairman, Constance Duopu, labeling the “9th Bi-Annual National Convention” held from September 27-29, 2024, as a flagrant disregard for the organization’s constitution and democratic principles.
According to the Reformers, led by Success A. B. Dennis, the event displayed numerous irregularities that compromised its legitimacy. They highlighted a lack of quorum, as only three of the nine members of the National Executive Committee attended. Additionally, only three of the twenty state chapters were represented, with most lacking the required delegates. The absence of the appointed Convention Organizing Chairman and minimal participation from the standing committees further underscored the event’s illegality.
Critically, the meeting saw a “scammed voting process” where, for the first time in CDC-USA’s history, a fraudulent vote took place, according to the Reformers. This vote purportedly aimed to install new leadership unconstitutionally, bypassing standard election protocols and failing to elect a convention committee. Moreover, there were no published records of delegate listings or membership due payments, and the election commission chairman was appointed unilaterally, compounding the procedural breaches.
The Reformers described the event as an emergency meeting hastily arranged to lend the gathering legitimacy, yet eight of the 25 attendees abstained, citing the meeting’s failure to adhere to constitutional requirements. Visual accounts noted fewer than 25 people present, raising concerns about their membership status within the organization.
“This reflects a deliberate attempt by the expired leadership to sow division and undermine the legitimacy of CDC-USA at a critical time,” stated the Reformers. They emphasized the urgency of corrective actions to restore constitutional order and good governance, appealing to all members to support efforts to recalibrate the organization.
