Monrovia – Starz University’s Founder and Board Chairman, Ambassador Latim Da-Thong, has called on its 7th Bachelor’s Class and 1st Master’s Class graduates to harness their innovation, excellence, and academic achievements to transform their lives, their communities, and Liberia. He made the remarks during the commencement ceremony held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, in Monrovia, which celebrated 183 bachelor’s and 17 master’s degree recipients.
Addressing the graduates, Ambassador Da-Thong emphasized their role as catalysts for Liberia’s progress, urging them to prioritize the positive impact they can make on others.
“Liberia needs you to drive its progress. As you move forward, remember that success is not just about personal achievements—it’s about the positive impact you make in the lives of others,” he stated.
The former Deputy Minister of Education for Administration praised the graduates as a proud legacy of Starz University, expressing confidence in their ability to excel and contribute meaningfully to society. He also reminded them of the institution’s values—innovation, excellence, and service—while highlighting the quality education that has prepared them for future challenges.
“I want to once again congratulate the Starz University Class of 2024. This is only the beginning of your journey, and we are excited to see all the incredible things you will accomplish,” Ambassador Da-Thong said. He encouraged the graduates to dream big, work hard, and seize every opportunity to thrive.
BSc in Cybersecurity Set to Begin in Early 2025
The commencement ceremony also marked the announcement of Starz University’s Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Cybersecurity program, scheduled to begin in early 2025. The program, launched in September 2024, reflects the university’s commitment to technological advancement and addressing the rising demand for cybersecurity professionals.
Ambassador Da-Thong described the initiative as a step toward training experts capable of protecting digital infrastructure at both local and global levels.
“With this initiative, we aim to train the next generation of cybersecurity experts who will protect and defend digital infrastructures locally and globally,” he said.
The program launch was attended by stakeholders from the National Commission on Higher Education (NCHE), the Liberia National Police (LNP), the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), and the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL), among others.
Global Education and Continued Innovation
Ambassador Da-Thong reaffirmed the university’s tradition of sending two outstanding students abroad each year for advanced studies. He highlighted the initiative’s role in fostering global education, with returning graduates contributing enhanced skills and a broader worldview to Liberia’s development.
Starz University, he said, remains a hub of innovation and excellence, equipping students with critical thinking skills and leadership capabilities.
“We are more than an academic institution. We are a center for creativity and excellence, equipping you to think critically, challenge norms, and lead with innovation. Here, we nurture the leaders of tomorrow,” he noted.
Motivational Message to Graduates
Ambassador Da-Thong left graduates with a motivational message: “Success is earned, not borrowed.” He reminded them that their achievements reflect their hard work, sacrifices, and resilience.
“This moment is yours—you’ve earned it, and no one can take that from you,” he said.
The ceremony also marked a historic milestone for the university, as it celebrated the first graduating class of its Master’s College. Ambassador Da-Thong described the event as a testament to Starz University’s growth and its mission to provide world-class education.
“We are proud to call you graduates of Starz University. May you go forward with confidence, knowing that you are well-prepared for the future,” he concluded.
