President Boakai Hands over Advanced Finger Print Machines to the Liberia National Police

MONROVIA –  President Joseph N. Boakai handed over advanced fingerprint machines to the Liberia National Police, aiming to expedite criminal investigations and enhance law enforcement efficiency.

During the ceremony, President Boakai stressed the importance of trust in the security department, expressing gratitude for the continuous support from the Chinese government. He emphasized the need for strong bilateral relations between Liberia and China.

The Chinese Ambassador, Yin Chengwu, acknowledged the President’s appreciation and highlighted the importance of maintaining peaceful and cooperative relations between the two nations.

Justice Minister Oswald Tweh underscored the significance of the new fingerprint technology, noting that it would simplify investigative processes and lead to more effective law enforcement. He expressed deep appreciation to the Chinese government for their generous donation.

Inspector General Gregory Coleman of the Liberia National Police expressed gratitude to both the Liberian government and the Chinese Ambassador for their invaluable support. He anticipated that the new fingerprint technology would significantly ease the work of the police, compared to manual methods.

President Boakai’s commitment to improving security in Liberia demonstrates his dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of Liberian citizens. The donation of this advanced technology is expected to greatly enhance the investigative capabilities of the police force, leading to increased efficiency in solving criminal cases.

Ambassador Yin Chengwu highlighted the advanced nature of the fingerprint laboratory, noting that it is the first of its kind in Liberia. He mentioned that Chinese technicians had installed the equipment and trained Liberian officers, and that China would continue to provide technical support.

“The lab will enable the LNP to make better analyses in criminal investigations and provide more methods to combat crime,” said Ambassador Chengwu. He expressed confidence that the lab would help the Liberian government promote its rule of law agenda and further strengthen China-Liberia relations.

According to the agreement between the Chinese and Liberian governments, the project signifies the growing relationship between the two countries since President Boakai took office. Ambassador Chengwu expressed optimism about the future of China-Liberia cooperation, guided by the strategic leadership of President Xi Jinping and President Joseph Boakai.
