Liberian Entrepreneur Wins Prestigious US Business Award

The Liberian-owned Menwon Plumbing and Drain Services, based in Worcester, Massachusetts, has been awarded the Better Business Bureau (BBB) Small Business of the Year Award for 2024, marking a major achievement for Liberian entrepreneur Aaron Zuo and his family-owned business.

Established in 1912, the BBB is dedicated to promoting honesty and fairness in business, and this prestigious recognition honors Menwon Plumbing’s outstanding commitment to marketplace excellence. Mr. Zuo, the company’s CEO, has been celebrated for his adherence to high ethical standards, exceptional customer service, and dedication to community welfare.

Menwon Plumbing, founded in 2019, has quickly made a name for itself as a reputable provider in the plumbing industry. The BBB award for Small Business of the Year is awarded across the Central Massachusetts region, selected from thousands of businesses based on criteria such as ethical practices, customer satisfaction, and community involvement.

The company was previously a finalist in the 2022 BBB awards and has earned other accolades, including the Tuazama Legacy Award for innovation and ethical business practices. Menwon Plumbing holds top-tier accreditations with organizations like the BBB, Angi (formerly Angie’s List), and HomeAdvisor.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Zuo expressed gratitude to his supporters, including his wife, family, and mentors, as well as his pastor and church community. He acknowledged the role of his brother, Michael Zuo, who encouraged him to pursue a plumbing career. “This award is a testament to our dedication to ethical standards and best business practices, and we pledge to continue upholding these values,” Zuo said.

Zuo also shared his vision of expanding services to Liberia, highlighting the urgent need for improved sanitation in his home country. “It is my dream to help develop plumbing programs in Liberia to address public health needs and prevent widespread diseases,” he stated.

With over 18 years of experience as a licensed plumber, Aaron Zuo leads Menwon Plumbing with a commitment to reliability and quality. The company’s A+ rating with the BBB further validates its dedication to the highest standards in business.

“I am honored by this award, and I hope it inspires everyone, especially my fellow Liberians, to pursue excellence and integrity,” Zuo said.
