MONROVIA — Global Mission Initiatives (GMI), a US-Liberia-based religious organization, honored two distinguished Liberian Christian leaders during its first anniversary celebration on Sunday, November 17, 2024. The event, marking GMI’s establishment in 2023, saw Archbishop Dr. Isaac S. Winker, Sr. and Bishop Dr. Kortu K. Brown receive the “Distinguished Christian Leadership Award” for their exceptional service to the church and humanity.
Although neither honoree was present at the ceremony, they were individually recognized for their leadership. Archbishop Winker is the Founder and Overseer of Isaac Winker Global Ministries Inc. and Dominion Christian Fellowship, while Bishop Brown serves as the Bishop of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church International and pastors the New Water in the Desert Assembly.
GMI’s Founder and Vision Bearer, Bishop Dr. G. Laurenzo Stevens, also presented Certificates of Recognition to three of the organization’s national leaders: Pastor James T. Cooper, Bishop Torgbor T. Dixon, and Apostle Dr. Samuel B. Carr. Pastor Cooper leads the Maranatha Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Fiamah, Bishop Dixon oversees the Ebenezer Don Stewart Christ Pentecostal Church in New Kru Town, and Apostle Carr pastors the Triumphant Living Miracle Assembly in Bardnersville.
During the ceremony, Bishop Stevens encouraged members of affiliating churches to join the GMI Mass Choir, envisioned as a key tool for spreading the Gospel in Liberia. GMI aims to start with a 50-voice choir to amplify its outreach efforts. Additionally, Bishop Stevens revealed plans for GMI to expand its presence to other countries, including The Gambia, Mauritania, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone, to further its mission of reaching lost souls.
“This initiative envisions helping at least 250 churches globally enhance their evangelistic impact within their communities and beyond,” Bishop Stevens stated. Currently, GMI is collaborating with 11 churches in Liberia as part of its outreach efforts.
The anniversary celebration, held at the Ebenezer Don Stewart Christ Pentecostal Church in New Kru Town, featured a vibrant gospel concert involving choirs from GMI-affiliated churches. Themed “Blow Your Trumpet of Praise,” the event drew inspiration from Psalm 150:3.
