Asset Recovery Task Force to receive two international xxperts from FTI Consulting, UK

MONROVIA – Liberia’s Assets Recovery and Property Retrieval Task Force (AREPT) is set to receive two senior forensic investigation and asset recovery experts from FTI Consulting, UK. Andrew Durant and Wayne Anthony are scheduled to arrive in the country on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, to support Liberia’s anti-corruption and asset recovery efforts.

In a press statement issued Monday, March 17, 2025, AREPT Chairperson Cllr. Edwin Kla Martin hailed the visit as a major step in the country’s ongoing drive to trace and reclaim assets acquired through illicit means.

The statement further disclosed that FTI Consulting has committed to conducting an initial two-week case assessment at no cost to the Liberian government, reinforcing its support for the country’s asset recovery agenda.

FTI Consulting’s Global Asset Recovery Expertise

FTI Consulting is an internationally renowned firm specializing in asset tracing, forensic investigations, and financial crime analysis. The company has a proven track record of assisting governments, central banks, and financial institutions in recovering stolen assets across various jurisdictions, including Nigeria.

Andrew Durant, a Senior Managing Director at FTI Consulting, leads the firm’s Forensic Accounting Services across London, the Middle East, and Africa. With over three decades of experience in financial fraud, corruption, bribery, and asset misappropriation, Durant has conducted high-profile investigations spanning Africa, Europe, the U.S., and Asia. He has been recognized by Who’s Who Legal and Chambers for his expertise in forensic investigations.

Wayne Anthony, a forensic accounting and fraud investigation specialist with 25 years of experience, has played a key role in high-profile asset tracing cases across Kyrgyzstan, Libya, Tunisia, Egypt, Turkey, and Iraq. He previously led FTI Consulting’s forensic accounting division in the UAE, where he was instrumental in uncovering financial fraud and misappropriated assets.

AREPT’s Renewed Mandate in Asset Recovery

AREPT was established to lead Liberia’s fight against corruption by tracing and recovering public assets unlawfully converted by officials. The task force operates under Executive Order No. 145, signed by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., reaffirming the government’s commitment to reclaiming stolen assets and holding corrupt individuals accountable.

Under the leadership of Cllr. Edwin Kla Martin, AREPT is tasked with investigating, retrieving, and prosecuting cases involving misappropriated fixed and liquid assets. Its efforts align with the broader national anti-corruption strategy to ensure recovered assets contribute to Liberia’s economic stability and development.

“The task force looks forward to working closely with these international experts to strengthen Liberia’s asset recovery efforts for the benefit of the Liberian people,” the statement concluded.
