Liberia’s Ambassador-Designate to UAE, Mohammed Dukuly Vows to Enhance Cooperation in Education, Healthcare, Technology, Trade, and Security

Last Updated on May 23, 2025 by Blamo N. Toe

CAPITOL HILL – Mr. Mohammed M. Dukuly, Liberia’s Ambassador-designate to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has pledged to deepen and expand bilateral relations by promoting Liberia’s foreign policy objectives. He emphasized that this mission—guided by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai and Foreign Minister Madam Sara Beysolow Nyanti—will focus on development diplomacy and strengthening cooperation in critical sectors including education, healthcare, technology, trade, and security.

Appearing before the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs on Thursday, May 22, 2025, Mr. Dukuly reaffirmed his commitment to fostering increased trade and investment between Liberia and the UAE. He highlighted Liberia’s rich natural resources and strategic geographic location as key assets in advancing economic cooperation.

“The United Arab Emirates has consistently demonstrated its strong partnership with Liberia in various areas, including health, education, and socioeconomic development,” Dukuly noted. “Through generous UAE funding, many impactful programs have been implemented to support our economic growth.”

He stated his intention to build on this solid foundation by promoting UAE business interests while creating new opportunities for Liberian entrepreneurs.

Mr. Dukuly also outlined plans to encourage investment in Liberia’s agricultural sector, with a focus on key exports such as coffee, rubber, and cocoa. He pledged to advocate for the responsible extraction and trade of the country’s natural resources.

“Our administration will prioritize attracting investment in critical infrastructure such as roads, ports, and energy solutions,” he said. “At the same time, we will showcase Liberia’s rich cultural heritage, stunning natural landscapes, and significant tourism potential.”

Mr. Dukuly also emphasized the importance of engaging the Liberian diaspora community in the UAE, citing their potential to drive private-sector development and spur further investment.

He described education as the cornerstone of Liberia’s future, pledging to enhance cultural exchange programs and promote higher education opportunities for Liberian students in the UAE. “We will actively pursue scholarships and provide support for deserving students,” he added.

UAE’s Contributions to Liberia Highlighted

In his statement, Dukuly also recognized the UAE’s contributions to Liberia since the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

“Since the inception of our diplomatic relationship, the UAE has undertaken various initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of Liberians,” he said.

Among the notable projects he highlighted were the construction of the Emirates Hospital in Gbarpolu County, the development of PHP Unification Park, Invincible Sports Park, Clara Town Survivors Sport Park, West Point Sports Pitch, and D. Twe Sports Pitch.

“Additionally, the UAE has made substantial contributions to the 14 Military Hospital and provided financial support for rural development through a partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO),” he noted. “This ongoing collaboration reflects the strengthening bond between our nations and our shared commitment to a prosperous future.”

Mr. Dukuly concluded by pledging to serve with diligence, discipline, transparency, and a spirit of collaboration.

“I will not only represent the Liberian flag—I will champion the hopes and dreams of every Liberian striving for progress, dignity, and opportunity,” he affirmed.
