15-Year-Old Girl Allegedly Kills Partner Over Extra Relationship in Lesbian Love Affair

Monrovia – A 15-year-old female footballer from the Liberian Upper Women’s League club Stages Queen, Alvina Weador, has been accused of brutally murdering her alleged lesbian partner, Josephine Barwee, over suspicions of an affair with another female player.

By Thomas Kojo Roulhac, Contributing Writer

According to friends and family of the victim, the confrontation erupted in the early evening of Wednesday, July 24, after love text messages were discovered on Josephine’s phone, indicating she was involved with another player.

Alvina, believed to take on a dominant role in their relationship, allegedly attacked Josephine with a knife, stabbing her multiple times in the head and neck.

Friends of the deceased, who chose to remain anonymous, revealed that tensions between the two had been simmering since 2023, when Alvina learned of Josephine’s involvement with another player from the lower league club Republican FC. They recounted that Alvina had previously expressed intentions to harm her partner or the person Josephine was allegedly dating.

“We were not shocked about the news because Alvina once said she was going to do something about the texts she read from the victim,” they explained tearfully.

In response to the incident, Stages Queen Chief Executive Officer, Chris Geeply Weah, made an emotional appeal to the Liberia National Police and the Ministry of Justice, calling for justice for all parties involved. He emphasized the club’s commitment to supporting a thorough investigation.

“We regret to announce that one of our players from Stages Queen Football Club has been involved in the alleged murder of another player from the lower league,” Weah said. “Our prayers and thoughts are with the bereaved family during this difficult period. The club wishes to distance itself from this incident while offering support to both parties involved. We are committed to cooperating fully with the authorities to ensure a fair and thorough investigation.”
