Journey Home Film Festival & Liberia Film Awards Launch Filmmaking Mixer Series: A Premier Networking Platform for Liberia’s Film Professionals

Monrovia – The organizers of the acclaimed Journey Home Film Festival and the Liberia Film Awards are thrilled to announce the launch of the Filmmaking Mixers, a series of five bi-monthly networking events designed specifically for film industry stakeholders passionate about honing their craft and expanding their professional networks.

The Filmmaking Mixers aim to provide a dynamic platform for filmmakers, producers, screenwriters, cinematographers, film editors, and actors at all stages of their careers to meet, collaborate, and learn from each other in a supportive environment. Each event features industry experts as guest speakers, learning opportunities and networking opportunities.

The first Filmmaking Mixer takes place August 22, 2024 at Twisters Lounge in Congo Town in Monrovia beginning at 4pm under the theme “Director’s Dialogue.”   Renowned film directors will discuss their experiences in film and the importance of combining vision and creativity in their productions.

“We are excited to launch the Filmmaking Mixer series.  This series is a natural extension of the Journey Home Film Festival’s and the Liberia Film Awards goal which is creating opportunities for film industry stakeholders to grow and thrive in the Liberian film industry,” said Dr. Clarice Ford-Kulah, the Festival’s Executive Director

The Filmmaking Mixer series will take place every other month until June 2025 and will feature tailored discussions for producers, actors, screen writers, cinematographers and editors.

The first edition of the series begins on 22 August 2024 at 4pm at Twister’s Lounge.   Former A&R consultant for Universal Music Group, Faatimah York, will be the featured guest.   Ms. York has served as President of Tents of Kedar Publishing, a subsidiary of Kedar Entertainment Group, whose founder shaped the careers of artists like Erykah Badu and India Arie and D’Angelo.

The Journey Home Film Festival, produced by A.S.A.P. Africa, Inc. and the Providence Preservation Foundation began organizing  the Journey Home Film Festival in 2021 to celebrate, recognize talented filmmakers to contribute to the growth  and development of the sector.

The 2024 edition of the Journey Home Film Festival festival included legendary Nollywood actor and producer, Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD), Nollywood’s Desmond Elliot and Van Vicker, along with Hollywood’s legendary actor Mr. John Amos, award winning actress Saycon Sengbloh, ace producer Attika Torrence, and a host of others.
