MONROVIA — At least two individuals are believed to have died following a tragic accident involving the presidential motorcade along the Robertsfield Highway. The incident, which occurred earlier today also led to multiple injuries among road users.
The motorcade, transporting President Joseph Boakai, was en route to an orphanage dedication ceremony. The event was scheduled at the invitation of his wife, the First Lady of the Republic of Liberia. As the convoy moved towards its destination, a catastrophic collision unfolded, leading to immediate chaos and concern.
According to eyewitness reports and preliminary investigations, the accident involved several vehicles, including those belonging to the motorcade and civilian cars. The exact cause of the collision is still under investigation, but it is believed that a combination of high speed and possible mechanical failure may have contributed to the tragic event.
President Boakai, who was in one of the motorcade vehicles but not injured, expressed deep sorrow over the incident. Demonstrating immediate concern for the victims, he instructed that some vehicles from the motorcade, including an ambulance, remain at the scene to provide necessary assistance to the injured.
Emergency services were swiftly deployed to the accident site. The injured were transported to nearby medical facilities for urgent treatment.
