Liberia to host 2025 West Africa Logistics Conference, AFRICOM announces

Last Updated on April 29, 2025 by The Liberian Investigator

MONROVIA — Liberia will host the 2025 West Africa Logistics Conference (WALC), marking the first time the country will serve as the venue for the high-level regional event, according to a statement released by the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM).

Air Force Brig. Gen. George “Dutch” Dietrich, Director of Logistics at AFRICOM, announced the decision, hailing it as a major step in strengthening regional collaboration and improving logistics capabilities across West Africa.

“I am thrilled to announce this significant milestone in ongoing efforts to strengthen regional collaboration and logistics capabilities across West Africa,” Dietrich said in the statement.

Set to follow the 2024 conference held in Cameroon, the 2025 WALC will bring together military and civilian leaders to confront shared logistical challenges, improve interoperability, and coordinate strategic readiness across the region.

“Logistics remains the backbone of all operations, and is especially critical in a place as vast as the African continent,” Dietrich noted.

Conference topics are expected to include supply chain security, doctrine harmonization, and sustainable procurement practices. Organizers also emphasized the importance of empowering African partners and deepening the regional logistics network to support both security and humanitarian missions.

AFRICOM highlighted Liberia’s selection as a cohost as a recognition of its growing leadership in regional security and its commitment to stability and cooperation.

“Liberia’s selection as cohost underscores its growing role in regional security and its commitment to fostering stability and cooperation,” Dietrich said, adding his appreciation to the country’s authorities for their support in preparing for the event.

The conference will feature a range of activities including panel discussions, partner-led forums, and practical exchanges of best practices and lessons learned.

Over the coming months, AFRICOM will work in close coordination with the Armed Forces of Liberia and other West African partners to ensure a successful and impactful event.

The WALC is a cornerstone initiative aimed at building lasting logistics partnerships and supporting a collective approach to peace and development across Africa.
