GANTA – Two individuals are reported missing, feared drowned, following the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a bridge in Tiapa Town, District 2.

Representative Musa Hassan Bility joined his colleague, Representative Nyan Flomo, in Tiapa Town for the event, which marked the start of a project aimed at easing the challenges faced by citizens in Districts 2 and 4 during the rainy season. The bridge is intended to address difficulties in commuting and transporting farm products, especially when the Yarr River floods.
The two missing men, Morris Proh and Lawrence [last name unknown], reportedly disappeared after they jumped off a locally made ferry used to cross the river.
Prince Tozoe, Chairman of the Bility Development Foundation, confirmed the incident to The Liberian Investigator on Sunday, August 25. He stated that Morris Proh, a former Township Commissioner of Gbeah Township and current Office Attendant in the office of Nimba County District 7 Representative Musa Hassan Bility, and Lawrence [a Personal Security of Rep. Bility], along with two others, including a woman, jumped into the river out of fear when the ferry reached the middle of the river.
“When the ferry reached the middle of the river, the current was strong. Out of fear, those on board jumped into the river. Four people, including a woman, a young man, and two of our office staffers [Morris Proh and Lawrence, commonly known as O5], leaped from the ferry. Since yesterday [August 24], they have not been seen, and we are devastated as I speak to you,” Chairman Tozoe explained.
According to Tozoe, Representative Bility was in Tiapa Town at the invitation of Representative Nyan Flomo, who requested assistance to construct the bridge over a portion of the Yarr River that connects District 2 to District 4.
Meanwhile, the office of Representative Musa Hassan Bility [District 7] has yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
