Two men drown in separate incidents in Nimba County

GANTA – Two men have reportedly drowned in separate locations in Nimba County, one in Ganta and the other in Gbao Buanplay Town, District 7.

Sam Nuah, 43, drowned early Tuesday morning in a sand pit in the LPRC Community in Ganta, while Dahn Morris, believed to be in his early 30s, drowned in the Weh River in Gbao Buanplay Town.

According to family sources, Nuah, a sand miner, had gone to work when he reportedly slipped and fell into a deep pit created by mining activities. Morris, who was said to have epilepsy, drowned while bathing in the Weh River.

Following the discovery of their bodies, separate fifteen-member coroner teams were set up to investigate the circumstances surrounding their deaths. The investigations concluded that both men died from drowning, ruling out any foul play or body part extraction.

After the medical and coroner reports were released, the remains of the deceased were handed over to their respective families for burial.

These latest incidents bring to three the number of mysterious deaths reported in Nimba County between March 3 and March 5. The third case involved the discovery of a decomposed body of a man in his 20s, believed to be a commercial motorcyclist. According to his family, he had left home on February 23 for his usual late-night work but never returned. His body was later found near the Royal Community in Ganta.
