Monrovia — The Ministry of Labour is set to launch a comprehensive inspection exercise in the South East to ensure compliance with labor laws. Minister Cooper Kruah made the announcement on Tuesday, noting that the initiative follows the successful completion of similar exercises in western Liberia.
“The team of labor inspectors who completed inspection exercises in western Liberia will soon commence their work in the South East,” said Minister Kruah.
Minister Kruah also highlighted the Ministry’s increased revenue from processing work permits for foreign nationals seeking employment in Liberia. He emphasized that efforts are being made to streamline processes for individuals who have gained Liberian citizenship, ensuring they do not face unnecessary hurdles.
“We are committed to providing opportunities for those who have obtained Liberian citizenship. Our aim is to ensure they do not go through unnecessary bottlenecks during inspections,” he stated.
Additionally, Minister Kruah announced that starting August 15, the Ministry will enforce work permit compliance for ECOWAS citizens. “We will begin to ensure the compliance of ECOWAS citizens for work permits starting the 15th of August,” he said.
In acknowledging the hard work of the inspection team, Minister Kruah expressed gratitude for their dedication. “I thank our team of inspectors for their diligent services towards implementing the labor law of Liberia,” he remarked.
The Ministry has also recently resolved disputes at the Salala Rubber Plantation, securing an agreement for the payment of all outstanding benefits to workers. “We have successfully settled disputes at the Salala Rubber Plantation, reaching an agreement to pay all outstanding benefits to the workers,” Minister Kruah announced.
