GANTA — The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has arrested a 35-year-old man with a substantial quantity of drugs at the Ganta checkpoint in Nimba County.
Suspect Kidikeh Sonkarlay, a motorcyclist, was apprehended with the following drugs: 101 grams of marijuana, 77 wraps of Kush, and 7 strips of Tramadol.
Sonkarlay explained that he used cash to bribe the joint security personnel assigned to various checkpoints from Monrovia to Ganta when he was arrested at the Ganta checkpoint.
Prior to his arrest, a disagreement arose among the joint security personnel at the checkpoint. Suspect Sonkarlay, along with his girlfriend and brother-in-law, had reportedly used cash to bribe some of the security personnel. However, officers from the LDEA rejected their share of the bribe, leading to the arrest.
Sonkarlay disclosed that they typically use motorbikes and NTA transport to carry drugs from Monrovia to Nimba County. He stated that they were en route to Bahn to sell their drugs when they were arrested at the Ganta immigration checkpoint.
