VOINJAMA – The Lofa County Health Team has outlined pressing challenges in the health sector, urging the national government to provide swift intervention. These issues were highlighted during a recently concluded acquaintance and project implementation meeting held at the County Health Team office in Voinjama City.
The meeting brought together Officers-in-Charge (OICs) from various clinics and health facilities across the county. According to Dr. Moses Ujoe Weidhgar, Lofa County Health Officer, the gathering aimed to review progress, share success stories, identify challenges, and gather recommendations from OICs to enhance healthcare delivery in the region.
OICs expressed gratitude for the government’s provision of critical malaria medications and other essential drugs. However, they voiced significant concerns regarding the state of healthcare facilities. Among the challenges discussed were the lack of electricity in health centers, insufficient access to clean drinking water, a shortage of skilled healthcare workers, inadequate security at health facilities, and insufficient medical equipment for effective operations.
In their presentations, several OICs emphasized the need for immediate action, urging the government to address these pressing issues to improve healthcare services in Lofa County.
Responding to the concerns, Dr. Weidhgar assured attendees that their recommendations would be forwarded to the Minister of Health for further action. He encouraged health workers to remain resilient in their efforts to serve humanity despite the challenges.
“Your dedication to delivering healthcare services under these conditions is commendable. Let us continue to work together to make a difference,” Dr. Weidhgar remarked.
The acquaintance and project implementation meetings were conducted simultaneously in all districts across Lofa County, providing a comprehensive overview of the state of healthcare services in the region.
